Syrian opposition rejects ‘Iran initiative’

Former Syrian National Council chair Abdol-baset Seida
The Syrian opposition sees no new measures in Iran’s initiative, describing this plan as Tehran’s attempt to support the Assad regime, Asharq Al-Awsat daily reported.
Former Syrian National Council chair Abdol-baset Seida said this plan is nothing but an attempt by Iran to maintain the reputation of the Syrian regime and save Bashar Assad. Whoever reads this initiative will come to understand that Iran has presented its own plans under the pretext of a median solution to save Bashar Assad, he continued, adding Iran must stop all its financial and arms support to Assad and prepare itself for the post-Assad phase.
Fahad al-Mesri, head of the Free Syrian Army publicity branch stressed the Syrian opposition completely rejects Iran’s plan because it does not include Assad and his regime ending their rule. He described this plan as an effort to maintain Assad’s rule, not to save the Syrian people.
Iran is not part of solution to present a plan, he said, adding Iran is in fact fundamentally part of the crisis and it is not possible for the murderer to become a judge and present a solution.
